Keep answers private while you present on a whiteboard

10 October 2026 · 4 min read

Every teacher who has presented from a shared screen knows the problem: the notes you need are exactly the things the class must not see. Keeping them on a second screen or on paper means looking away from the board at the moment you need them most.

Why “hidden” is not the same as private

Many tools hide presenter content on the screen while still sending it to every device in the room. A curious student with developer tools — or just a zoom gesture in the wrong place — can find it. If the answer to the quiz reaches the student’s browser, it is not private, whatever the interface shows.

How Inkwis does it

Inkwis keeps private content in a separate room on the server that only the board’s owner is connected to. Students’ devices never receive it: not over the network, not in search results, not in anyone else’s AI answers.

In practice:

  1. Turn on Private mode in the top bar.
  2. Write the answer beside the question, add talking points, sketch a hint for later.
  3. Turn Private mode off and keep teaching. Your private notes stay where you put them, visible only to you.

When you save the board as a template, your private notes come with it — next year’s lesson is ready, answers included.

Reveal at the right moment

Private notes are for you. Sometimes you want content the class will see — just not yet: the worked solution, the definition, the next step of a diagram.

Draw it on the board, select it and choose Hide for reveal. It stays out of students’ view until you press Reveal next, then appears for everyone at once. Prepare several and reveal them in sequence as the lesson moves on.

In the replay

When you watch a recording of your own lesson, your private notes appear in place on their own track. When students watch the same replay, they see only what was public.
